Bridal Makeup Timeline: How the Morning Actually Runs
A realistic hour-by-hour breakdown of the wedding morning, and the three things that always make it run late.
Brides are almost always given an optimistic schedule. Here is the real one.
Four hours before you leave
Skin prep and base. This is the longest single block and the one people try to shorten. Do not.
Three hours before
Eyes. If there are lashes, they go on here. This is also when family starts arriving and the room gets loud — worth deciding in advance who is allowed in.
Two hours before
Hair. Structured styles take longer than soft ones, and jewellery has to be fitted around them rather than after.
One hour before
Draping, jewellery, lip. This is the block that always compresses, because everything before it ran over.
Thirty minutes before
Photographs with family, final check, touch-up kit handed over.
What makes it run late
Three things, every time: the outfit is not steamed and ready, the jewellery is still in boxes, and there are more people in the room than chairs. All three are solvable the night before.
