What to Ask Your Makeup Artist Before Booking
Seven questions that tell you more than any portfolio will.
A portfolio shows you an artist's best day. These questions tell you about their average one.
Who is actually doing my makeup? Some studios book under one name and send whoever is free. Ask for the artist's name in writing.
How many brides do you take that day? The honest answer is one. If it is more, ask when they are leaving your room.
What does the trial include, and is it charged separately? Both answers are fine. Surprises are not.
What products do you use on the base? You do not need to know the brands. You need to hear them talk about matching your undertone and your skin type.
How do you handle touch-ups? Are they staying? Are they leaving a kit? Who reapplies the lip after the meal?
Have you worked at my venue, or in that light? Not essential, but useful.
What happens if you are ill? Every professional has a backup plan. Ask what theirs is.
